The Origin of the Magis Brand

Magis is a brand that began as a dream and passion of one family. Eugenio Perazza, a visionary entrepreneur, decided in 1976 to create something exceptional that would allow him to break conventionalism and provide customers with something "more" than ordinary or predictable furniture.

The beginnings of Magis were modest. The company started its operations in the small farming town of Motta di Livenza, in the Veneto region. The artisanal dimension was a breeding ground for creativity and inspired Perazza to continuously experiment with new codes, technologies, and materials.

Eugenio Perazza's idea was bold: to push for mass serial production and offer something unique, which was already reflected in the brand's slogan – "more." In tough times, Magis grew slowly but with the perseverance and passion of its founder. Two months after its launch, the company participated in the first Salone del Mobile, confirming the industry's and customers' interest in the new brand.

Magis quickly gained an international reputation, and features such as innovation and a willingness to experiment became the foundation of the company. The brand's goal is to redefine the horizons of design and offer customers products that are unique.

"L'Esprit Magis," or the spirit of Magis, is a concept that fully embodies the brand's philosophy. Magis combines a passion for design with respect for local craftsmanship, as well as courage and innovation. The story of the Magis brand is a story of building something exceptional step by step, achieving many important goals along the way.

Today, Magis is a brand that has gained recognition worldwide, thanks to its unique products that combine aesthetics, functionality, and durability. Magis continues to grow, attracting new customers who appreciate not only the high quality of the products but also the spirit and passion behind the brand.

The road to the top is paved with successful collaborations

Magis is a renowned furniture brand that has achieved unprecedented success over the years through collaborations with well-known designers. The first significant milestone was the collaboration with designers Andries Van Onck and Marc Berthier. Magis began working with new design talents, leading to a series of successes.

The bottle rack, which can be stacked one on top of the other, was the first product by Magis designed by Jasper Morrison and won several international awards, earning a place in the permanent collections of many museums, from MoMA in New York to the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

In 1996, two new members joined the family, Barbara Minetto and Alberto Perazza, expanding the brand's vision. The following year, Magis presented Bombo, a stool that soon became the most copied stool of all time. Today, it is a style icon.

In 2000, Magis inaugurated the new century with a technological revolution: the Air-Chair, the first one-piece chair designed by Jasper Morrison and made using pneumatic molding.

In 2003, Konstantin Grcic presented Chair_One, another chair that revolutionized the design world, this time thanks to pressure casting technology.

Everything that is simple and ordinary does not lie in the nature of Magis, and the desire to explore new paths has never ceased. However, the pursuit of hyper-innovations in materials was not enough; the company sought new keys to interpretation, emphasizing material combinations, reviving ancient techniques, and focusing on craftsmanship in details. The culture of 'well-made' products, typical of the best in Italian style, revealed new facets.

In 2004, Magis entered the world of children's furniture. Eugenio's grandfather wanted to give his granddaughter the 'right' table but couldn't find the suitable one, so he decided to create an entire line of designs that would offer both practicality and educational value. Thus, Me Too was born, the first collection of designer furniture seen through the eyes of children.

Me Too allows children to experiment with their creativity in an easy and enjoyable way. Among riding chairs, treasure chests, and modular beds, Puppy appeared in 2005, a small dog designed by Eero Aarnio, which soon became a pioneer in design for children, loved by adults as well.

Magis quickly expanded and in 2010 moved to Torre di Mosto, where it has over 98,000 square meters of assembly, logistics, and administrative space, along with a large showroom.

A year has passed, and the brand has celebrated two more successes: Magis resumed production of the famous Proust Mendini armchair, a symbol of redesign, in an outdoor version made of polyethylene, and won its second Compasso d'Oro with the Steelwood chair (the first was in 2008 with Trioli by Eero Arnio). Three more will be added later, in 2014 for Spun, and in 2020, an award for the overall body of work for Eugenio Perazza.
